Well.. not just yet.
However, with Christmas just around the corner you can’t help but think about the new year and what awaits.
You may have things booked in. Personally, I know that next year I’m going to Birmingham in February, as well as an annual Super Bowl viewing with a friend. A Hen-Do to Majorca in April. I might be going back to Cyprus in May. In June I’m going to see Adam Lambert + Queen and Green Day. Two of my friends are getting married in July, a potential Christening plus my Dad’s 50th Birthday.
2020 is shaping up to be a busy year already, not counting other birthdays and day-to-day life.
I’m so looking forward to each of these things. I’m hoping to do a 2020 Bucket List / Goals at some point because, although I’m awful at sticking to them, I love thinking about what I could potentially do or accomplish within a year.
I know for a lot of people the new year doesn’t mean much. Just another year of the same old stuff.
I understand that, but for me I really love that clean slate feeling. The feeling that everything could be fresh, new and exciting and the possibilities are endless.
You could say you can take that view anytime throughout the year, and I’d agree with you. But for New Years it isn’t a forced or conscious effort to implement that mind-set. It’s just there, waiting in anticipation.
2020 not only brings the start of a new year, but a new decade!
In 2010 I was in college, just about half way through my final years of education.
I had no idea what would happen.
I’m lucky I’m still friends with some of my oldest friends from school and college. They’re incredible people and I feel so lucky to have them in my life.
But I had no idea that I would also make new friends through other people and through work.
That a few of my friends would get married in a few years and one would have a baby.
I had no idea that within 10 years I will have left college, had two voluntary jobs, two full-time jobs, the latter ongoing. That I’d be working for the NHS, have been to Rome and Crete, attended various concerts and seen Arsenal FC play at the Emirates.
That I’d become a Godmother.
When I truly think about all that has happened in the last 10 years it’s too much to write down.
2020, the start of a new decade. I wonder what it has in store?
