I imagine most of us have heard of Band Aid.
I can’t speak for the majority of the world. However, if you live in the UK the chances are you’ve heard of Band Aid.
Band Aid formed in 1984. They’re a group made up of popular artists, bands and people who recorded the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” to raise money for starving children in Ethiopia.
The song has since been re-recorded and re-released a subsequent three times. In 2014 the idea was to raise money to aid the victims of the Ebola outbreak.
I’m not sure about the rest of the world, but “Do They Know It’s Christmas” is a staple in our house.
I think the song is a piece of history. The original song sold over two million copies worldwide. If you were alive for that, you were alive for a piece of history. Everyone coming together to do one simple thing and help in any way they can.
I think that’s the point. The cost of a CD, that’s all it took.
Personally, I’m always in my own little world. Hence “In a World of Her Own”. Something my parents always told me because I always had my head in the clouds daydreaming. This December, and into 2020, I’m going to try and be more mindful when I’m out and really see the people around me.
When out shopping, no matter how busy or tight on funds, purchase two of some items to put into the food bank.
I’m definitely not telling you what to do, I’m just thinking about what I could do. Keeping in mind that there are already hundreds doing their bit, probably for not much more than the cost of a CD.
