This is not a resolutions list! That will come later this month however, these are a list of things I want to do (rather than achieve) in 2018.

1. Harry Potter Studio Tour

I wanted to do this in 2017, and I was so close!

I opened my birthday present from my sister and she had printed 2 tickets for the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Make no mistake, I knew these weren’t the real tickets. Instead she printed two 9 3/4 ‘Hogwarts Express’ tickets, then explained that the tickets were coming in the post. However, what she actually meant was that she hadn’t yet actually bought the tickets. As it was technically a birthday present, I’m hoping I can go next year.

I have been once before however, they have so many more features now and I want to explore them all!

2. Visit the Imperial War Museum in London.

One of my friends went to the Imperial war Museum a few months ago. She explained they had exhibitions dedicated to The Secret War, The Holocaust and the First World War. While I have an interest in all of these, I am particularly interested in The Holocaust exhibition.

When I was in Primary School (approximately aged 8?)  we started learning little pieces about the Second World War and, at home, I ended up watching Anne Frank. That really stuck with me. Watching that at a young age, plus throughout Secondary School we learned more about the second world war, especially for me during my GCSEs – it’s something that I’ll never truly understand but I’ll always want to know more.

It’s one of those things where, you may know the long-term causes and short-term causes but, it’s never enough. You can’t help but wonder ‘Why?’. I’ll never find an answer, because no answer is good enough.

I am a big believer in that we need to remember our history, otherwise decades down the line there are those who will attempt to repeat it. If nothing else, we should remember those innocent people who were victims of this time because they don’t deserve to be forgotten.

3. Cirque Du Solei

This one might be cheating slightly because I already know I’m going in January 2018. Look, I needed something on this list that I knew I could actually do.

A few months ago one of my friends asked if I’d be interesting in going to this event. She does aerial, and really enjoys it! I’m assuming that’s part of the reason she wants to go.

For me, I’ve never been and have no clue as to what I should expect. OK, I have a small clue because her instructors performed a show at a theatre in our hometown, and it was incredible! Death-defyingly, heart-stopping incredible. According to my friend it’s more of the same only ten times bigger and ten times more of all of the above, I can’t wait!

4. Oliver’s in Brighton

So, Brighton is a town which is very close to me. Very recently a new shop opened up called Oliver’s.

Why do I want to go here?

ALL ITEMS SOLD AT OLIVER’S ARE OFFICIALLY LICENSED HARRY POTTER PRODUCTS!

Oliver’s aren’t affiliated with Harry Potter or J.K. Rowling but I still think it’s absolutely fantastic and really want to experience this!

5. A Weekend in London

Now, this one could be construed as a cop-out because I’m going to London for the Cirque du Solei, so I’m going to be very specific.

I wan to go to London, for no other reason that to sightsee, shop and perhaps endeavour on some walking tours. I love London and I’ve done a lot of touristy things however, whether it’s because I was born there, I have family there or because I go there so often – I’ve always made the trip when there’s another reason as well i.e. concerts, shows etc.

Next year I want to go to London just to go to London. I want to research lesser known spots or attractions and really get the full experience.

6. Holiday

This one I’ll be very broad because I don’t want to confine myself to one place. I would like to go abroad though. Whether that be on my own, with friends or with family, that’s something I look forward to planning.

Further Thoughts

As I said at the beginning, these are not my New Years Resolutions. These are fun things that I can hopefully experience in 2018 however, I don’t consider than as pivotal as working towards goals to improve my life and well-being.

That being said, I hope that I can do all of these. I haven’t made them incredibly out there and unachievable, plus who knows where the year will take me (or, how I shall take on the year).

  1. I know what you mean about London. I’m originally from there, and I lived there for around 10 years, but the only time I really got to see it was when I was going to specific places and not just going on a walk or something. I did one of these self-guided walks with some friends who didn’t want to do the usual tourist stuff, and as long as you have someone with a good sense of direction – that wasn’t me – you can have a really nice time! https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/visit-the-city/walks/Pages/self-guided.aspx Harry Potter is also on my list for next year – I haven’t done the tour yet.

    1. There is so much on that list that look so interesting! I don’t have a great sense of direction, but a mate of mine got us around Rome for a week so perhaps I can drag her along? ? They sound like so much fun!

I loved the Harry Potter Studio Tour, it was so much fun! But there’s so many features that have been added and I want to explore!
