I swear this is different from my Goals for 2017 post!
See, my goals for 2017 post was mainly towards New Years Resolutions however, things to do in 2017 get’s a little more specific with what I want to do / where I want to go.
So let’s get straight into it!
1. Harry Potter Studio Tour
I’ve been once before with my family and absolutely loved it! Me and a friend of mine have been wanting to go back for a while but keep saying ‘oh yeah, soon..’ and then soon becomes never.
I’m determined to go back next year, which is why it’s at the very top of my list. Priorities… right?
2. New Furniture
So, I still live at home but the furniture in my room, while still not in bad condition, I think is due an upgrade. I’ve had it since before leaving school in 2009 school which was… nearly 10 years ago?! ..Goodnight everyone.
Okay but seriously it’s lasted a good while but it needs a refresh so I’m hoping to invest next year in March (yes, I have a plan!)
3. First Draft of Novel & Short Story
I kind of encompassed this in ‘Writing’ for my goals but as I said I wanted specificity so that’s pretty specific I’d say. I know that’s a lot of work but I really want to do it now. I’ve been saying ‘soon’ for too long, it’s time to say ‘now’… or something along those lines, I don’t know.
I also did a writing course and the short story is nearly finished. It still needs to be cut by about 500 words but was told by the person running it to leave it for now and go back to it after Christmas, try to get it to actually 500 words then add in the parts I need. So that should be interesting and it’ll be really cool to have a complete and finished story in my hands.
4. Self-Hosted Blog (.. still researching)
Again, I spoke about it briefly in my ‘Goals’ post however, I’m mentioning it briefly on here because it’s part of the whole thing.
5. Cyprus
So I’m hoping to go out to Cyprus next year. I haven’t been for the past couple of years and while I’ve enjoyed what I’ve been doing instead it will be good to get back out there and see all the family and friends.
6. Slimming World & Gym
I feel like I should put a target in but it’s so hard when concerning weight. In the first instance I’ll say I want to achieve at the very least my Club 10 and if I get there I can expand on this one along the way.
In terms of the gym I really like going, I really like my personal trainer and I really enjoyed trying all the different classes at my own gym and at other leisure centres around my local town so I’d like to get back into that (… and stick to it!)
That’s my problem. I start all these things and then I never stick to them or finish them, a habit I want to break.
7. Do More
I wasn’t really sure how to word this one so I’ll stick with that.
What I mean by ‘Do More’ is: Go to more concerts when you can; Do trips to London for shopping or whatever reason (and do the same to Brighton); Go to events that you want to go to for the hell of it (I never did get to Winter Wonderland this year); Book Singings; Other Book Events; Look up what’s happening and rather than worry about the details go for it!
I kind of did that with The Cursed Child launch, it was 2 in the morning and I booked a ticket for that and the Tanya Bakes book signing. I wasn’t too worried about the latter because, though I was by myself, I’m okay with trains and underground so I felt pretty good. Midnight Launch, there was no way I was getting back home same-day. But I went for it, bought two tickets and me and the friend I went with had a lot of fun! It was totally worth it and all the minor details were sorted later. I also went to a concert not long before that and The London Zoo the same weekend as The Cursed Child launch, which was brilliant!
… I got off track. Do More!
8. Spend more time with Family
It’s so easy to get caught up in all these ideas and projects but I do love my family and feel really guilty when I don’t spend a lot of time with them, especially as we live in the same house!
I am also talking about my family in London. I really should go up and visit more often than I currently do. It is difficult, what with work schedules and all.
At the end of the day I love my family – the ones I live with and the ones I don’t – and I feel like I should start spending more time with them. I’m not sure they know that they are a priority in my life and it’s time to start remedying that.
I feel like I should put something about work on here but currently I’m really happy. My workplace goals going really well. From where I was in March 2015 to now, I never could have imagined the difference. While my ambition within the role and the team won’t subside I know that I’m in a good place and until the time comes when I can move forwards then I’m happy.
I’d also like to travel abroad with friends but that will depend on them so we’ll just have to see about that one!
Hope this gave you some ideas, there’s a lot there I probably won’t accomplish but it’s good to have them written down somewhere to look back and laugh at in the future!
Okay but in all honesty I like writing these kinds of things down, I’m not sure why but I find it a lot of fun!
