25 Days of Christmas 2016
#12 | A Little Message…
It’s that time of year again! Tis the season to be jolly, the season for giving and thinking of others.
I love Christmas for all of these reasons. I love that (most) people are in a better mood, whether it be from the twinkling Christmas lights, the thought of giving (or getting) presents, spending time with the family – whatever it is that warms them from the inside out.
Now I could focus on what people do this time of year – both good and not so good – but I think we all have a general idea in our heads so instead I’ll say this:
No matter whether you love this time of year or you hate it always remember to be kinder to the people you meet and see. This is the time of year people go out of their way to volunteer their time and money to various causes and yet forget about it in their day-to-day lives.
We all know this season is a hectic one but don’t forget that a little kindness goes a long way. So in the hustle and bustle don’t forget to say thank you to the cashier who’s helped you out; Don’t huff and puff at people in the queue – it doesn’t help and it’s not their fault; Don’t yell at that person on other side of the phone because they’re the ones you’ve spoken to first, when really they probably had nothing to do with your issue.
Smile more at the people around you and give them a helping hand when you can. I think I’ve spoken about this before but I honestly think that a small act of kindness can have a ripple effect throughout someones day and reach into someone else’s to put a smile on their face because if you remember to smile, the people around you do as well.
I know it’s a time where everyone wants everything to be perfect but that’s not what life’s about.. and neither is Christmas. It’s about spending time with the people you love and just celebrating the small things – whether it be family, love or friendship, let’s not forget that.
